VALUE DELIVERED
A significant contribution to New York's research & development community; expanded opportunities for some of the world's top research scientists; an efficient, low-risk way for biotechnology and pharmaceutical entities, academic institutions, governmental bodies, venture capitalists, and other thought leaders to coordinate their efforts; greater ability to develop a more productive life sciences product pipeline; increased potential for creating the medicines and other components required to improve people's health and well being.
OBJECTIVES
To build Manhattan's first-of-its-kind life sciences facility, where science, talent, and capital can come together strategically to collaborate and innovate.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
By completing this job on a "fast-track" schedule, Heritage's expert mechanical services team made a significant contribution to this highly advanced research center's ability to achieve its objectives. To ensure optimum tenant comfort and facility energy efficiency, the company put in variable-air-volume boxes complete with hot water heating coils, water-cooled air conditioning units, steam humidifiers, and other equipment. Piping systems for medium- and low-pressure steam, clean steam, secondary hot water, and secondary condenser water help meet the needs of the facility's pressure reducing valve stations, glass washers, sterilizers, tunnel and cage washers, and autoclave equipment. And for maximum occupant safety and health, Heritage installed dedicated exhaust systems for the fume hoods and bio-safety cabinets connected to multiple 33,000-cfm strobic fans located on the roof.
SOLUTIONS
This building's core-and-shell design and construction won LEED® Silver certification.
